We’re over the moon to be hosting audio wizards The Orielles for a headline show for our Onomatoposter exhibition launch weekend. The trio have been on a fascinating sonic journey, reaching a new high with this year’s LP Tableau (Heavenly Records) – a sweeping, inventive and bold odyssey of hyper-pop. The aesthetic of the Halifax trio has always leant heavily from the world of film, lending their brand of mutant disco an avant-garde edge. On Tableau that is stretched to its ultimate end point, thrumming with cinematic swoops of strings and surprising you at every turn with its widescreen scope.
The Orielles are joined on the night by friends from their Merseyside orbit: Terry Venomous brings his smooth lounge scuzz to the party, along with Memori‘s shimmering dreamscapes. This show is the culmination of a launch weekend for a new Onomatoposter exhibition at Future Yard, an international gig poster show in the Future Walls gallery space, with a fair, live screen printing, pizza pop-up and an array of great artwork.
