Blues de l’océan Indien, is a guest show exploring music from the Mascerene Islands of Mauritius and Reunion.
Sega and Maloya music from the islands of Mauritius and Reunion have a distinct sound characterised by unique percussive rhythms and melodic vocals. This music originated between the 17th and 19th centuries by slaves brought from West Africa, Mozambique, Zanzibar and Madagascar.
