Spektrum is a collective effort by Liverpool students, from both the Universities, to bring more drum and bass to the city. The idea behind the name, and the general aim of Spektrum, is to explore and present all areas of drum and bass – a genre that too often gets typecast and therefore overlooked.

This began with the launch of the night in March of 2017 with the techy sounds of internationally-renowned DJ, ED:IT and one of Manchester’s finest Jungle DJs, DJ Cautious. Looking forward, the team are exploring more melodic ‘liquid’ drum and bass with GLXY at the next event, and the team are coming across as ambitious for future events! The idea is not to book DJs who sell tickets, but book good quality DJs that haven’t played in Liverpool before.

Though run by students, the genre itself has grown into a stage of maturity has engaged people of all ages and from many surrounding areas, and that is in part the ethos of the night; no egos, open minds/ears and quality DJs playing on quality sound systems.

Each month, Spektrum aims to provide 2 hours of drum and bass from one of its subgenres, with a different subgenre presented each month. Announcements and all other news on when you can get your next dose of drum and bass can be found on the Spektrum Facebook page.
