Part-heir to the infamous Bakery Parties, Ullet Road House Parties, Class Action Weekends, L15 Projector Coop Film Nights, multiple adventurist failings in dank basements and more recently the London-based Find The Best Working Position (FTBWP), Red City is a new solidarity disco for Liverpool.
Originally developed by party-decor and graphics designer Louis Tuckman and Theo FTBWP, Red City is an attempt to utilise the humdrum format of the party [dancing, snogging, good feelings, humorous conversation, sound, lighting etc…] to support local and international campaigns over work and housing.
This month they are fundraising for United Voices of the World: a grassroots trade union of migrant and precarious workers in London. Currently engaged in x 6 campaigns at universities, hospitals, government departments, the Royal Parks (!) and corporate offices… UVW are fighting and winning campaigns for the London Living Wage, sick pay, holiday pay as well as equal terms and conditions for outsourced workers.
Red City’s aim is nothing less than the overthrow of the night-time through the enlargement of living life, against the machinations of economists and secret quantifiers.
Despite this, Moodys have rated all Red City musical selections as AAA+. There is minimal chance of default here. Setting up in the Bridewell this weekend, Theo FTBWP, Lupini and Louis are inside on the warm-up for Saturday. *STRICTLY NO WORRIES IN THE DANCE*
