Studio cat Lupini brings you 猫の額 (Neko No Hitai), cruising the high seas of sound on HMS MDR.
Lupini aka Nina Franklin has been hard at work in the Melodic Distraction studio, becoming a familiar face on the other side of the studio webcam. Stepping away from backstage for a moment, Lupini takes to the helm. 猫の額 (Neko No Hitai) is a space for ambient storytelling, vapourwave, mumblecore, acidic percussion spasms, jazz, juke, footwork, loud things, quiet things and who knows what else as she takes us on a voyage to the deep.
Keeping 猫の額 as the home for the more Marmite parts of her music spectrum, she holds a monthly residency on Netil Radio’s Kaleidosound, where she keeps to an easier-listening tip. She also trots out the more dancey, propulsive side of her record collection at her and Ben Sleia’s party, ATHE, focussing on techno, electro and breaks.
This month, Lamin Fofana, sound weaver and resident artist of the Liverpool Biennial 2020 takes the reins on a guest mix that weaves techno, field recordings and dance hall in true Neko No Hitai style. Tip!
