Mornings With Strike A Pose

Mornings are back! Well with us that is. That’s right, no more walking through the musical forest of the morning without a voice to guide you along the way.

Tune in every weekday as a selection of hosts jump into the studio with plenty of tunes and huge amounts of sideways chat. Expect a selection of familiar faces returning to the airwaves with Aiden & Griff, Yvonne Page, George \m/, SOULFULTIZ, Yeti, Tonia, Chandé & our very own Danny taking you through the morning grind.

Strike A Pose is a fundraising party at Quarry organised by a collective of friends. Instead of selling tickets, donations are collected on the door to support workers taking part in industrial action or campaigning activities. At our last event in April, we raised £888 for NHS Workers Say NO, a grassroots, self-organised group fighting for pay justice and patient safety.

The event itself is half variety show, half disco. Up until 11 o’clock we have outsider art, live music, drag, poetry, and a discussion around our fundraising activity. After 11, we all dance together to house, disco, new wave, garage and techno music. We hope to create a space where having a group of friends all in the same room for the same reasons can be a kind of radical act.

In our second Melodic Distraction show, we’ll play the kind of music you can expect to hear at Strike A Pose, as well as chat through some of the current struggles and debates in different sectors. Our next event is planned for Friday 14th July, and we’re yet to choose a group of people to fundraise for. In the show, we will discuss where our fundraising efforts might be best placed – we’d love for listeners to get involved in this discussion too. We hope to raise awareness of the strike wave and encourage people to have conversations about being sound and getting involved in the workplace and beyond.
