Me Gusta x Shifting Spheres: Our City with Kiana

Me Gusta and Shifting Spheres have been thriving in a bustling Manchester scene for some time now.

Me Gusta are a multicultural collective. Through music, dance, unity and art they form events to expose these rich identities from continent to continent creating a basis for all to connect as one.

Their friends and collaborators over at Shifting Spheres are a driving force for providing DJ training programs for women, transgender and non-binary people.

To celebrate August Bank Holiday weekend, Melodic Distraction came together with the two forces for a socially-distanced get together at the lovely YES Manchester. Sets came from a line-up of great DJs curated by the two Manchester collectives.

The whole event was geared towards raising money for the two collectives’ nominated charities; Kids of Colour and Manchester Refugee Support Network. Find out where to support them in the links below.

Kiana – کیانا, is an Iranian born Manchester based DJ playing across the board in the 140+ region with hardcore, techno and breaks usually in her bag. She also has a healthy back catalogue of radio shows for the likes of NTS, Sable Radio and our very own Melodic Distraction Radio.

Taking afternoon into evening, Kiana produced a lovely set entirely comprised of Iranian disco!
