Artist Focus is a new series hosted by the extended Melodic Distraction family that deep dives into the life and times of the musicians that have defined the sound of modern music. From the stone cold classics to the unearthed gems and forgotten B-sides, our community tribute an hour of music by a single artist that has had a notable impact on their life.
Mr Oizo is the music alias of surrealist filmmaker and producer Quentin Dupieux. He was brought to the world stage when his single ‘Flat Beat’, was picked up for a Levi’s advert and ended up selling 2 million copies worldwide, helped along by it’s puppet star – Flat Eric. His 6 studio albums and film soundtracks are where the glitchy gems lie.
The show will take us through 17 years of album tracks and film scores where he worked alongside Gasrpaurd Auge from Justice, and where we see him collaborating with the likes of Skrillex, Peaches and Charlie XCX.
