Africa Oyé

The 26th Africa Oyé has now sadly passed, but with that comes another full year of radio shows. Celebrating the African diaspora through anecdotes and unheard stage recordings, join Paul Duhaney and his guests each month.

With a blend of recordings from the festival, interviews with artists and organisers, and plenty of guest mixes and live sessions along the way, the show is a reflection on what has happened and what’s to come in the future. Oyé prides itself on being the largest celebration of African music in the UK, beginning life as a programme of live events in venues throughout Liverpool.

Join Oyé’s Paul Duhaney and Spykatcha who bring you an exclusive concert and interview with South African singer-songwriter Vusi Mahlasela, simply known as ‘The Voice’ in his home-country, celebrated for his distinct, powerful sound and his poetic, optimistic lyrics. This is followed by a DJ set from Sefton Park favourite, DJ Esa Williams, fusing Kwaito house and afro disco with gritty techno and deep percussive grooves.
