‘Jaded’ the final release in Rhythm Lab Records’ series ‘giRLs’, is a sugary sweet rejection of toxic love straight from the hearts of both ends of the M62.
“NIIX is the first woman I have actually worked with as a producer and it’s been such a breath of fresh air.” Rhythm Lab Records ‘giRLs’ series has given a safe space for three pairs of women musicians to collaborate, commissioning them to write, produce and release a single with one another. The final pairing of the series is Manchester-based singer/songwriter Martha Pryer and our very own alt-pop phenomenon NIIX.
The result is a playful dance record, harkening to the self-aware bubble-gum sounds of Rina Sawayama and Charli XCX, but with a shadowy detour that introduces some dark synths back into the mix. With NIIX on production and vocals and Martha on spoken word and vocals, ‘Jaded’ is a hybrid of their varied musical backgrounds, creating something completely different to their usual sound.
