NEWS: WE’RE HIRING – JUNIOR RADIO PRODUCER X2

We’re delighted to announce that we’re looking for some new friendly faces to join the Melodic Distraction team.

Working in collaboration with Youth Music, we’re looking for two people between the ages of 18-25 to come on board and take on the role of Junior Radio Producer.

If you’re into music, local culture and supporting the North-West’s creative community through radio then this role is for you!

Junior Radio Producer

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to get involved in the music and broadcasting industry to gain core skills in a studio environment. Training will be provided to successful candidates on how to operate a radio broadcast studio.

The role includes:

  • Live radio production in a studio environment. Candidates must be able to travel to and work 3 days a week in Liverpool (L3).
  • Greeting radio hosts and ensuring their show runs smoothly throughout.
  • Live streaming of audio and video content.
  • Management of remote radio broadcasting.
  • Mastering of pre-recorded radio shows.
  • Social media posting to promote shows while live in the studio.
  • Creating promotional materials for hosts.
  • Supporting colleagues on the coordination of some communications and content creation related to the radio station when necessary.

Experience is not required to apply for the role and all training will be provided by a senior member of the Melodic Distraction team. What we’re looking for is a genuine passion in music, radio and supporting grassroots cultural outlets.

Whilst experience is not required to apply for the role, we would like to know if you have any prior understanding of the following areas:

  • Experience working in a busy, ever-changing, environment.
  • Experience with computers
  • Experience music editing software such as Reaper, Garage Band, Ableton.
  • Experience with image editing software such as Photoshop.

The role will run for a 6 month period at National Living Wage for 25 hours per week (3 on-site working days from our studio in Liverpool). We especially welcome and encourage applications from women, those from an LGBTQI+ background, those with a disability, Black, Asian or any other ethnic minority background as these groups are traditionally underrepresented in the radio industry.

Our Ethos

The ethos behind the Melodic Distraction is one of inclusivity. We want the space to be welcoming to all people regardless of age, gender, identity, race, sexual orientation or ethnicity. The successful candidate will be expected to be a part of cultivating this environment along with the rest of our team.
