Melodic Distraction Live Sessions: Sweet Beans

Melodic Distraction Live Sessions… A video series bringing together radio hosts and their favourite live acts from across the North West, recorded and filmed directly from Melodic Bar in the heart of Liverpool. Expect a selection of the best musical talent that the North West has to offer, alongside comprehensive interviews and insights into the minds of these incredible artists!

This month, our resident jazz host, Jab, from ‘Jazz, But Not As We Know It’ has connected with riot jazz/groove punk band ‘Sweet Beans’. Together, they’ve recorded the first of many live sessions down at the Melodic Bar, blurring the lines between funk and rock with their incredibly powerful live sound. This session consisted of weighty bass riffs coupled with furious guitar and saxophone virtuosity, all held together by the heavy grooves from their drummer.

Sweet Beans delivered an outstanding performance, blasting their new-wave groove punk throughout the Fabric District and beyond. Their set consisted of five incredibly distinctive tracks (listed below) and a great interview with radio host, Jab. They discuss the deeper meanings of jazz, their influences, and the incredibly active jazz scene that we are blessed to have in Liverpool and further afield.
