MDR Staff Picks: Zaremba – Brazil 2020

As most of you are probably aware, the current Covid-19 crisis has meant that many of us now have a lot of time on our hands. At Melodic Distraction, we saw this as an opportunity to not only put some of this extra time to good use, but to also put it towards another avenue for you folks at home to explore and kill some of that extra time you’ve been looking to fill.

With that in mind, starting last week, we launched our ‘MDR Staff Picks’ playlist series! With Toby’s “Songs to Snood to” playlist kicking things off in fine style last week, it’s time for another member of the MDR crew to launch their playlist! Drum roll please…

Stepping up this week is MD co-founder and musical weltmensch James Zaremba, whose playlist is inspired by a trip to Brazil. Always one to dig that little bit deeper, James’s playlist takes you off the well worn MPB path and instead leans towards more contemporary cuts. Over to the man himself…

“Here is a selection of music I was listening to before, during and after my recent holiday to Rio. Most of the music is from the last 20 years. I feel like the modern era of Brazilian music gets overlooked in Europe for the more famous names of the 60s, 70s and 80s (although I have included some older bits in this playlist too).

Please enjoy while chilling at home or taking a walk around your nearest park.”
