Lockdown Live Lounge returns with two more concerts from one home to another! We may still be (2 metres) apart, but now more than ever we need to connect with our online communities to bring us together. We hope to do just that this week, with some more fresh talent from around the globe.
Lockdown Live Lounge invites our favourite artists, local and afar, to live-stream a mini gig from their homes. Every Monday and Thursday at 2pm give your ears and eyes a little hug from the freshest talent across the UK. An intimate experience direct from living room to living room, we invite you to sink into our ‘Lockdown Live Lounge’, but from the comfort of your own home. You don’t even have to get dressed to go out!
This week, we’re delighted to welcome incredible drummer, composer and band leader, Jas Kayser, take to her drum-kit! Currently based between London and Panama City, 24-year old Jas is a Paiste Cymbals and Natal Drums artist from the UK, previously based in Boston and New York.
Jas completed her undergraduate and masters degrees at Berklee College of Music whilst studying and playing alongside mentors such as Terri Lyne Carrington, Danilo Perez, Ralph Peterson and Neal Smith. During this time Jas began to explore the common grounds between Jazz and Afro-beat which led to her creating her original sound and compositions.
Jas’s more recent projects have been presenting her original band at some of the top jazz venues for the London Jazz Festival 2019, RISE concert in Boston supporting Terri Lyne Carrington and Panama Jazz Festival for the past 2 years. She was featured in Lenny Kravitz’ Official music video single ‘Low’, has played for Jorja Smith at Union Chapel in London, as well as playing alongside UK Jazz Artists Nubya Garcia and Ashley Henry around London and Europe. We’re beyond excited to watch and hear her bring the heat.
Thursday we return closer to home with synth wizard and The Only Way Is Upitup radio host, Jacques Malchance! Composer, DJ, musician, producer and promoter, Jacques is at the forefront of Liverpool’s underground scene.
Originally from Rome but now based in Liverpool, his own musical output is impossible to pin down. His works span across electronic music, classical music and contemporary experimental music, specialising in piano, organ and synthesiser instrumentation. From techno tap-dance raves to piano recitals and “organ disco” parties, his performances have mesmerised and impressed audiences around the world.
Jacques is also a founding member of bands Barberos and Hapytap (R.I.P.), as well as net-label and events collective Upitup Records and arts collective Distant Future. He has toured extensively across Europe, Russia, Scandinavia and the Balkans; has supported the likes of Luke Vibert, Broadcast and Omar Souleyman, and has performed at festivals such as Bangface Weekender, Bluedot and PZYK Fest. For our Lockdown Live Lounge, he’s prepared something a little different in the form of a special ambient set – we can’t wait!
Join us on our Facebook page for Jas Kayser on Monday 6th July, 2pm and for Jacques Malchance on Thursday 9th July, 2pm.
