Lockdown Live Lounge: Doom Cannon & hyperdawn

Okay. You know it. We’re all stuck in quarantine. We may have been living off peanut-butter toasties and seeing how long we can leave our hair unwashed because, well… just because.  But at least we’ve still got the internet (oh, holy one!) and the music. With everyone being stuck indoors, we have a brand new online series for you: Lockdown Live Lounge.

Lockdown Live Lounge invites our favourite artists, local and afar, to live-stream a mini gig from their homes. Every Monday and Thursday at 2pm give your ears and eyes a little hug from the freshest talent across the UK. An intimate experience direct from living room to living room, we invite you to sink into our ‘Lockdown Live Lounge’, but from the comfort of your own home. You don’t even have to get dressed to go out.

This week, we’re delighted to present Doom Cannon in collaboration with Stepping Tiger! Otherwise known as Dominic Canning, this London-based producer, musical director and musician has already made a name for himself. He’s co-founded bands including Steam Down, Triforce and Project Karnark, as well as being musical director for soul singer Celeste. Now he begins his solo debut, which has already gained interest from many in the UK scene. His music is a blend of his Caribbean routes and his upbringing in London. Influenced by the likes of Herbie Hancock, Kamasi Washington and Robert Glasper, Doom Cannon is a melting pot of UK jazz with unique tendencies. Look out for his debut EP coming soon, and join us on our Facebook page, Monday 27th April at 2pm.

Next up, it’s Salford-based experimental/electronic duo hyperdawn. We’ve been big fans of Michael & Vitalija ever since they graced our airwaves last year, with a hypnotic live performance featuring DIY instruments and looping with reel-to-reel recorders. Not afraid of pushing boundaries, their innovative sound has seen them perform across the UK, EU and North America, alongside the likes of Maria Somerville and Warp artist Kelly Moran. Not to mention airtime on NTS Radio, BBC 6 Music and BBC Radio 3 to name a few. Paired with an electric light show, we’re ecstatic for them to bring it to our homes. Join us in the same place on Thursday 30th, 2pm.
